Introduction to Instructional Technology for Educators

I will be co-teaching an introductory course in instructional technology for candidate teachers this spring at NC State University. It's a great opportunity to think about the ever-shifting landscape of digital learning and the technologies we use with students. I hope that students understand that their use of technology as future teachers is only as good as the teaching, learning, planning, etc. that leads the technology. Typically, I think learning how to teach with technology is best done in integration to methods courses, content courses, etc. but I'm looking forward to how in depth we will be able to get in this dedicated course.

Our students will also be blogging and reflecting on the technologies we use and how they can impact learning. I look forward to meeting this group of students and finding out how we can learn from each other. We will also be Tweeting about our experiences at #eci201 - looking forward to seeing what students share! We jump in with TPACK and activities aligned with the NC Digital Learning Competencies and hope that our students will see the power technology can have for their future students and learn to be flexible in its implementation.
